MANSFIELD, Victoria & High Country Holiday Park

The first stop of our High Country Adventure is the gorgeous township of Mansfield. Situated at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range or otherwise known as the Victorian Alps, is the quaint tourist destination with many historic buildings. Dating back to its stock route camp days, there is plenty more to Mansfield including the beautiful Lake Eildon and array of wineries.

We parked our caravan up at the amazing High Country Holiday Park! It’s an award winning park with a solar heated salt water pool, games room and playground to keep the kids entertained. Only a short walk to the hub of Mansfield it really is a wonderful place to base yourself and explore Mount Buller and Craig’s Hut. Grassy sites, BBQ’s and communal kitchen are just some of the facilities with cabins also on offer!

Victoria’s High Country is well known for it’s breathtaking views, natural attractions, 4 wheel driving, gourmet food and skiing. Whether you’re visiting in Summer, Winter or somewhere in between, you’ll be spoilt with scenery. If you visit in Winter, you’ll find the mighty Alpine blanketed in snow with Mount Buller, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek an icy wonderland.

And of course, it’s the filming location of the most iconic Australian movie ever (in my opinion)

Once the snow melts there are so many opportunities to bask in the fresh Alpine air. Riding, hiking, rock climbing and white water rafting can all be accessed from here. If your looking for a 4wd adventure like us, you can leave your van here and get on a guided 4wd & camping tour with “High Country Adventure Tours” . These guys are experts in the area and will show you all the hotspots and great campsites throughout the High Country. We had an EPIC trip with these guys, 6 nights away starting from Mansfield and finishing in Harrietville. We camped at some amazing locations, drove some insane 4wd tracks and immersed ourselves in high country history and scenery.

You will find a wide selection of cafe’s and restaurants in the area with plenty to do in the surrounding regions! We can highly recommend the Mansfield Coffee Merchant for a great place to grab a coffee and a meal. It’s kid friendly with a great atmosphere and the service, food and coffee is impeccable! They roast their own beans and they have several blends to choose from with “New kids on the block” being our favourite grind!
