Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is located in Warrnambool, Victoria, at the end of the Great Ocean Road. Laid out featuring the 1870’s maritime period, put Flagstaff Hill on you list when travelling though the area. This museum takes you back in time, featuring costumed tradesman and ladies alike. It highlights a large collection of shipwreck memorabilia including an estimated 4million dollar peacock statue recovered from the Loch Ard.
Flagstaff Hill is highly regarded as a great maritime museum and not only is it great to check out all the history, but the kids love it as well! They have the opportunity to feed the chooks and ducks, check out sheep and pat the movie renowned Maremma dogs. Climbing lighthouses, sitting in bunkers and on cannons, marching on parade grounds and getting a sewing lesson, were just a number of things on hand to do at the Maritime Village. Very affordable and kids under 5 free, it is well worth a visit and you won’t be disappointed! Grab yourself a coffee and a feed at Pippies by the Bay Restaurant and Cafe which is on site. Flagstaff Hill also offers a Sound and Laser Show as well as Maremma Tours over to Middle Island to see them in action!
